Salad shrinks the biceps is a rap song by the German rappers Kollegah and Majoe , which was created in collaboration with the Götzfried Girls , two rural women from Upper Palatinate . The accompanying video was uploaded on April 1, 2014 and became a YouTube hit.
History of origin
In 2013 Kollegah spent a few days in the Wellness and Spa Hotel Götzfried in Wutzlhofen near Regensburg . One of the hotel employees told Kollegah about a self-written rap the hotel manager and her friend had written. At the end of January 2014, the management asked if the two were interested in working together. Kollegah wrote the lyrics for them and invited them to Hugo Bergmann's studio in Regensburg Recordings to record the rap. The beat, held in the typical guise of Bavarian folk music , comes from Phil Fanatic and Hookbeats . A video was then shot on a farm and on the alpine pasture in Wutzlhofen. The publication of the video coincided with the broadcast of the 12-part Kollegah YouTube program Bosshaft Latenight and was therefore part of the promotional campaign for Kollegah's album King , but was deliberately uploaded on April 1, 2014 as an April Fool's joke .
Music and lyrics
Kollegah and Majoe, both enthusiastic bodybuilders , rap a humorous text over Schunkelmusik about the fact that you need proteins to build muscle and that a salad is counterproductive. They tell of goodies they would eat before training. The “Götzfried Girls” also mention various dishes that were taken from the hotel's menu.
Video
The video takes place on an alpine pasture and a farm in Wutzlhofen. At the beginning, a thin protagonist complains that although he works out hard, his muscles just won't grow. Majoe and Kollegah can be seen in muscle-hugging outfits on a BMW , the Götzfried Girls wear dirndls . In the course of the plot you can see, among other things, how the two Götzfried Girls dip the thin actor in a butter churn full of protein powder and then let him train with a stick with two milk cans . You can also see various rump steaks in a showcase, a cowshed and a woman who dances Schuhplattler . At the end of the video Majoe and Kollegah laugh, then Kollegah's face appears in a close-up and he says: “April, April, friends”.

Within a few days the video had quite a high number of clicks and on April 14, 2014 it was on the threshold of the three million mark. There are now over 15 million hits. The media also reported very benevolently about the video.
