Imperator is the sixth solo album by the German rapper Kollegah . It was released on December 9, 2016 on the Alpha Music Empire label as a standard edition and deluxe box.
Versions
Imperator was released in two CD versions and as a digital publication. In addition to the Standard Edition, a Limited Deluxe Edition was released in the form of a box set. In addition to the album, this contains another album, the Hoodtape Volume 2 , an exclusive T-shirt, an exclusive Deus Maximus money clip, a poster and the instrumentals. Kollegah also organized a competition. In every Saturn and Media Markt store, the standard edition of the album was purchased with a free DogTag. The prizes for 10 people who found one of 10 numbered dog tags were a Meet & Greet with Kollegah and either a signed PlayStation 4 or a Deus Maximus clothing package.
Guest Posts
In addition to Kollegah, other artists are represented on five songs on the album. His long-time collaboration partner Farid Bang has a guest appearance on the song American Express , while the rappers Summer Cem and KC Rebell , who are under contract with Banger Musik , can be heard on Rap Money and Python Leather . In addition, the track Schwarze Rosen is a collaboration with the rapper Ali As , and on One of Millions Kollegah is supported by the rapper MoTrip and the singer Linn Roß.

Chart successes and singles
Imperator entered the German album charts at number 1 on December 16, 2016 . It also reached the top of the charts in Austria and Switzerland. For more than 100,000 copies sold, it received a gold record in Germany in the year of publication . It was ranked 14th in the German album charts in 2016 and 3rd in the hip-hop annual charts.
In the run-up to the album, the songs Nero (DE # 57), Hardcore (DE # 62) and Focus (DE # 80) were released as singles for download . In addition to music videos for the singles, videos for the songs Pharao (DE # 43) and One of millions (DE # 53) were also released. A total of 17 out of 18 tracks made it to the singles charts during the album's release week.

Max Brandl from laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points. He says that "Kollegah is still technically unchallenged in its own rap league". The production is "very round, impressive and - especially in cases like" Nero "and" Kaiseraura "- more professional than ever. Unfortunately, it's also shockingly interchangeable. ”Overall,“ Kollegah's rap style and the still broader ego projection are slowly but surely getting on in years ”, which sometimes leads to boredom.
Oliver Marquart from rap.de sees this in a similar way and writes that "the self-exaggeration has been exhausted [...] and at some point every how-comparison is drawn". It would be time for Kollegah to change something, since he “not think of so much” apart from technically demanding, but content-wise redundant self-praise. So Imperator lives "mainly from the excellent beats."
Steffen Bauer from MZEE criticized the album quite heavily. In his review he wrote that Kollegah barely managed to “surprise the listener, and further development hardly seems to be possible.” He just kept giving himself new rulers, in which the only progression was recognizable.
