Pimp Tape Volume 3 is the third part of a mixtape series by rapper Kollegah . After the release of pimp tape and the sequel Boss der Bosse , pimp tape Volume 3 was released on December 19, 2009 on the independent label Selfmade Records . Hip-hop musicians Hookbeatz, B-Case, Sixjune, Yoshi Noize, Vizirbeats, Saabiza and Rizbo were involved in the production.

publication

After it was originally announced for December 12, 2009, the release of the mixtape was postponed for a week because the guest rappers Mr. Chissman and BoZ had not finished their verses in time for the latest possible deadline. Because 18 titles had already been promised in the announcements for pimp tape Vol. 3 , Kollegah decided to replace the unfinished songs with two new pieces.

Due to an error in the press shop , some copies of the mixtape contain errors in the intro . After the publication of pimp tape Volume 3 , Selfmade Records apologized for the faulty CDs, some of which had already been delivered, and offered a free reimbursement of the affected records.

Selfmade Records offered the third part of the “pimp tape” exclusively through its Internet mail order company. Since the sales of the Internet shop were not recorded by Media Control, the album could not enter the German album charts, but Kollegah and Selfmade Records would instead be able to earn more on the records sold.

Pimp Tape Volume 3 was limited to 5,000 copies and sold out in mid-March 2010.

criticism

The reviews of the third part of the Mixtape series were positive. The hip-hop magazine Juice chose the publication in its January / February issue as “Mixtape of the Month”. In the evaluation, above all the " word game finesse " Kollegahs as well as the productions that are less characterized by the use of synthesizers , but rather " rely on relaxed rolling or melodious high pitched ", which makes the arrogance in the lecture Kollegahs, for example in titles like Westside , Show-off roll 2 and the three Hoodtales , has the opportunity to “ develop their full effect. "

Max Brandl, editor for the Laut.de e-zine , wrote a review after the album was released, in which pimp tape Volume 3 was awarded the highest possible rating of five points. Compared to the album Jung, brutal, gutaussehend , released a few months earlier with Farid Bang , Kollegah has improved lyrically again. The rapper uses numerous rhetorical figures that the listener often only discovers after listening to it several times. Brandl also praises the verses in which Kollegah raps particularly quickly, in the so-called “double time”. The productions of the titles are highlighted as versatile. Kollegah uses " inflated, rousing and often grandiose sound foundations that border on unbearable kitsch ", which, however, fit into the concept. As an example of a negatively rated beat, Brandl names the production for Outro , which he describes as " stapaziose ". In addition, the editor criticizes some linguistic errors that have come across Kollegah's texts. This he sees less severe and concludes at the end of his review that the critics should try Kollegah " between all the exaggerated complacency, the hair-raising ghetto stories à la Munchausen and the swanky package that actual achievement [ to ] discover, called the entertainment arts. "

The website Rap.de certified the mixtape as having " a very high, if not long-lasting, entertainment value ". Kollegah is able to recite “ hard texts ” in a calm voice so that the music can be heard in the car, for example. In this context, the editor Lena highlights the titles Westside and Show-off roll rap 2 . One of the worse pieces is called the Red Light Massacre, the guest contribution of which is mainly criticized negatively by Sun Diego. Furthermore, " a strong technical advancement " is Kollegah, based on the song Lovesong Reloaded . In contrast, the pieces 180 degrees and Amsterdam have a low recognition value . According to the Rap.de editor, Fahrenheit and international players spread “ the most good mood ”. Taken together, the themes of the album were predictable.
