Eric Dean Hordes (born November 23, 1983 in Baden-Baden ) is a German director , film producer , screenwriter and VFX designer .

life and career

Hordes was born in Baden-Baden. Since 2008 he has worked as a VFX designer for RTL for the report magazine stern TV and for ProSieben for the formats “ Galileo Big Picture , Die Alm and Austria's Next Topmodel ”.

In 2012 Hordes published the film satire Der Gründer , with Helmut Krauss in the lead role. The film satirizes the life of the media entrepreneur Thomas Hornauer and his media appearances from the channel Telemedial . Hornauer sued against publication because he suspected a mockery of his telemedia idea. The Stuttgart Regional Court granted him the right to view the film twice within two weeks before its cinema premiere and to appeal against positions that violate his person's honor. After the first appointment, Hornauer informed Hordes by email that his person could not be recognized and that he saw further steps as "a waste of time and money". The film was then released.

Between 2015 and 2019 Eric Hordes produced the film Goblin - This is really Troll , of which he is the creator, screenwriter, producer, casting director, director, editor, VFX designer and dubbing director. Hordes received great support for the project from Helmut Krauss and Katy Karrenbauer and was able to win over his great idol Jiří Lábus , who after 20 years slipped back into his star role as the magician Rumburak . The film celebrated its German premiere in October 2019 and will be distributed in the United States under the title Trolls World .

In the dramedy series Patchwork Gangsta produced by SWR for the funk media offer , Hordes acted as director alongside its creator Christian Karsch and was able to contribute his creative input to the story and the characters. Since 2019, Hordes has been producing contributions for the Galileo program together with Christian Karsch . In 2020 he shot a commercial for the Egyptian coffee brand Mom's Choco Cafe .

Hordes works for the SWR and lives in Baden-Baden.
