Horiana Brănişteanu

Horiana Brănişteanu (born October 18, 1942 in Galați ) is a Romanian opera singer ( soprano ) and university professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg . She has Swiss and Austrian citizenship .

Life

Horiana Brănişteanu finished her school education in 1960 with obtaining the Abitur in Bucharest . In the following five years she studied singing and vocal pedagogy at the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Academy in Bucharest. She finished her studies in 1965 with the double state examination as an opera and concert singer. From 1965 to 1972 she completed a private study of vocal pedagogy with Elsa Chioreanu . During this time she performed regularly in front of an audience in Bucharest. Her international career began at the International Singing Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch ( Holland ), where she won first prize in 1971. This was followed by prizes at the Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona in 1971 , and the Enrico Caruso Prize for the most beautiful voice in Rio de Janeiro in 1973 .

Her repertoire includes 36 opera roles as well as a number of oratorios , cantatas and symphonies . Her vocal subject ranged from the youthful-dramatic soprano to the subject of dramatic coloratura . Brănişteanu worked u. a. at the Lucerne Festival 1974, Glyndebourne Festival 1977, Ludwigsburg Festival 1981, Wexford Festival 1973, Athens Festival 1979, at the Munich Opera Festival 1978 and at the Zurich Festival 1980 and 1981. From 1974 on she was soprano soloist for 10 years in the 1st class at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Duisburg . From 1986 to 1992 she was a lecturer for singing, vocal pedagogy and repertoire studies at the Mozarteum in Innsbruck . From 1992 to 1995 she was visiting professor for solo singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg . Since 1995 she has been a full professor for singing and practical voice studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Horiana Brănişteanu gives master classes for singing in Egypt , Italy and Romania . She gave singing workshops for amateurs in Switzerland (Lucerne), Austria (Innsbruck) and Germany (Ebenhausen). She is also a member of the jury at international music competitions.
