Horst Eisel

Horst Eisel (born May 28, 1921 in Stuttgart ) is a German actor , theater director , artistic director , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Eisel received private acting lessons and made his debut at the Berlin Schillertheater . Further theater stations were initially in Bochum and Graz. In the early 1950s he worked in Bremen, where he played the title role in Gerhart Hauptmann's Herbert Engelmann . In the mid-1950s he moved to the Nuremberg Schauspielhaus , where he was part of the ensemble alongside Edgar Walther and Günther Tabor for 13 years. The next stage was the Augsburg Municipal Theaters . In 1967 Eisel was commissioned to run the renowned Altdorf Wallenstein Festivalto stage. To this end, Eisel himself undertook the second revision of the play, which had been staged in Altdorf with interruptions since 1894, modernizing the style and parts of the aftermath. As the only non-layperson at the festival, he staged it in 45 festival performances for 18 years.

Although Eisel's artistic focus was on the stage, he occasionally took on roles in film and television productions. In Rolf Hädrich's television play Das Attentat - Heydrich in Prague he played Karl Hermann Frank alongside Martin Benrath in the title role.
