Horst Stottmeister
Horst Stottmeister (born January 7, 1948 in Stendal ) is a former German wrestler .
Career
Horst Stottmeister started gymnastics in Stendal at the age of 10, but soon afterwards started wrestling. He drew attention to himself through several successes in the youth field. In 1966, in accordance with the customs of the GDR at the time, he was given several wrestling performance centers. Stottmeister joined the performance center in Leipzig . There he found an excellent trainer in Adolf Franke and excellent training partners in Gerd Bachmann, Manfred Borchers and Siegfried Neufang.
Horst Stottmeister started for SC Leipzig . In 1970 he became European champion in freestyle wrestling (middleweight) for the first time in Berlin . The following year he won his first GDR championship title in freestyle. In the same year he was also vice world champion in freestyle in Sofia. Until 1977 he was one of the world's top freestyle wrestlers.
Horst Stottmeister initially worked as a cook. He then completed his studies at the hotel and restaurant industry. This was followed by a sports teacher degree at the DHfK Leipzig . After working for well-known hotels in Leipzig until the political change in the GDR, Stottmeister went into business for himself as a hotelier in Leipzig.

At the beginning of the 1990s, Horst Stottmeister found his way back to active wrestling. In 1992 he became freestyle world champion of veteran wrestlers (Masters) in Cali / Colombia. He repeated this success in 1993 in Toronto / Canada.
