The Huariaca district is located in the Pasco province in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district has an area of ​​123 km². The 2017 census counted 7201 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6518, in 2007 it was 7962. The district administration is located in the small town of Huariaca with 6400 inhabitants, 2941  m high on the banks of the Río Huallaga (as of 2017). Huariaca is located 28 km northeast of the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco .

Geographical location

The Huariaca district is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the north of the Pasco province. The Río Huallaga crosses the district in a northerly direction.

The Huariaca district is bordered to the south-east and the south by the district Ticlacayán , in the southwest of the district of San Francisco de Asís de Yarusyacan Francisco , in the northwest on the district Pallanchacra and the north by the district of San Rafael ( Province of Ambo ).
