Hubert Dupont (born May 5, 1959 in Versailles ) is a French jazz musician ( double bass , electric bass , composition ).

Live and act

Dupont studied engineering in Lyon until 1981 , when he devoted himself to music. At first he played the guitar as an autodidact before switching to the double bass in 1983. He became a member of the ARFI and played in their large formation La Marmite Infernale and with Yves Robert , but also with Tchangodei and Itaru Oki .

In 1989 he moved to Paris, where he formed the group Kartet with Guillaume Orti , Benoît Delbecq and Benjamin Henocq since 1990 (which had released six albums by 2014); He also worked for many years as a bass player in the Thôt group around Stéphane Payen. In 2004 he presented the solo album Ultraboles . He brought Rudresh Mahanthappa into his group Dupont T , with whom he recorded the album Spider's Dance , which was followed by international tours. He also directed the bands Altisssimo and Decor . He also played with Robin Eubanks , Steve Lacy , Harold Land , Glenn Ferris , Stefano Di Battista , Fabrizio Cassol , Daunik Lazro , Malik Mezzadri , Mathias Rüegg , Paolo Fresu , Wolfgang Puschnig , Gábor Gadó , Louis Winsberg and Laurent de Wilde . He also recorded with Marjolaine Reymond, Nicolas Genest, Elie Maalouf and several times with the big band Quoi de Neuf Docteur .
