Hubert Riedel
Hubert Riedel (born September 7, 1948 in Berlin ; † May 31, 2018 in Berlin) was a German graphic designer , curator and specialist author .
Life
After finishing school, Hubert Riedel worked for ten years as a milling cutter and dispatcher in heavy engineering. From 1965 he dealt with art, from 1967 especially with the work of the poster artist Lucian Bernhard . In 1974 his first poster, Chile is again Chile , was published, which received a lot of international attention. From 1975 to 1986 he was the house graphic artist at the Berlin City Library . Since 1987 he has worked as a freelancer. For many years he designed posters for galleries and museums.
In 1987/88, five posters by Hubert Riedel were shown as part of the Xth Art Exhibition of the GDR .
After 1990 he designed, among other things, posters and catalogs for the Institute for Foreign Relations . On their behalf, he curated the exhibition Lucian Bernhard - Advertising and Design in the Dawn of the 20th Century , which has been on view in over 40 countries on all continents since 1999.
