content

world

The world of Hunter × Hunter is a fantasy world. There are many parallels to our world in terms of global events such as wars, technology, social and organizational structures and many more.

An essential difference is the existence of the "Nen". This is the body's own energy that allows talented people to develop unique abilities. There are also abilities that are innate or automatically developed, that is, are not trained willingly. The range of individual skills is enormous. To do this, skills can be enhanced by an individual making a pact with their Nen. Due to the specialization of energy, ie a “restriction”, and the chosen agreement, there are innumerable possibilities for “Nen” users.

Many of these people join the "Hunter Association". The organization is democratic. There are certain departments, responsibilities and also elections. The organization plays an important role globally, politically and militarily. Everyone who aspires to become a hunter must first pass the entrance exam. This gives him a "hunter license" with which he qualifies for various jobs and enjoys special privileges. For various achievements or successful missions, promotions are awarded, which increases one's own rank and prestige.

The world has not yet been fully explored by humans.

action

The twelve-year-old Gon Freeks, who lives with his aunt, learns from the Hunter Kaito that his father Ging Freeks is a hunter and is still alive but does not want to be found. So Gon decides to become a hunter too and to find his father.

During the exam he meets Leorio, Kurapika and Killua. They all have different motivations for taking the dangerous exam. Killua Zaoldyek is the offspring of a notorious family of assassins who do not want to become an assassin. Kurapika is the last member of the kurta people and wants to take revenge on the perpetrators, the so-called illusionists (phantom brigade) . Leorio wants to earn enough money by working as a hunter to study medicine and to be able to help the poor as a doctor for free. The four soon become friends, although there is a hostile atmosphere during the exam and many participants are working against each other. You also get to know Hisoka, a magician who wants to prove his strength by defeating as many strong opponents as possible. He is particularly interested in Gon, as he recognizes its potential, and will later compete against Gon when he has become stronger. In the final round, Killua kills one participant, disqualifying him and passing all other participants.

After passing the exam, Gon, Leorio and Kurapika drive to Kukuru Mountain, where the Zaoldyek family lives. They want to help Killua to get out of the tutelage of his family, which they succeed after some difficulties. Then they part ways: Leorio begins his medical degree, Kurapika is looking for work and Gon and Killua go looking for opportunities to earn a living. They get to the sky arena, a tower that you have to fight and earn money to climb (it has over 250 floors). During the ascent, they learn the art of using the Nen from the Meister Wing. They also meet Hisoka again, who defeats Gon. After the defeat, Gon and Killua visit his aunt on his home island, Whale Island. There she hands Gon a box from his father. It can be opened by Nen. As a clue to his father, he now has a ring, a cassette and a memory card for a game. Gon and Killua listen to the tape, which then overwrites itself.

Kurapika has since become a bodyguard for the Nostrade family, who have ties to the world's largest auction in Yorkshin City. Killua and Gon also come to Yorkshin City after they have been told that the computer game Greed Island can be used to find out something about Gon's father. While the two are trying to collect enough money for the game with Leorio, Kurapika continues to try to track down the illusionists. He is supported by Hisoka, who is himself a member of the organization, whose leader Chrollo Lucifer he wants to challenge. After the illusionists were able to steal the goods for the auction, Kurapika succeeds in killing one of their members ( Ubōgin ). Greed Island game is sold to billionaire Battera. Kurapika succeeds through its ability to seal the Nen of Chrollo and thereby render it harmless. As a result, Hisoka temporarily loses interest in Chrollo and ends the collaboration with the four friends.

Soon after, Gon and Killua are playing Greed Island on behalf of Battera to find clues about Gon's father. The game works with Nen and teleports players to an island. There, 100 playing cards are to be collected that give special skills. In the game, Biskuit Krüger joins the two friends, who she trains and helps. You will also meet Hisoka and some illusionists who are looking for a way to undo the Nen sealing of Chrollos. When they succeed, they leave the game. Gon wins the game and is given the option to be teleported to his father. But he only ends up with his former student Kaito, because he came with Killua. This was planned by his father, as he would only meet his son if he came alone.

In the aftermath occurs an extinct species of intelligent human-like ants, called Chimera - ants . These multiply extremely quickly and begin to feed humans to their queen, who hatches the king. Therefore, Kaito, accompanied by Gon and Killua, sets out to fight the ants. The Hunter Committee and the Illusionists also get involved. Kaito, Gon and Killua soon meet Neferpitou, the first member of the king's bodyguard, which consists of three particularly combat-able ants. Immediately realizing Neferpitou's superiority, Kaito orders Gon and Killua to leave. Gon and Killua escape, but Kaito is killed and resuscitated as an ants' pupa. Through him and another hunter, the ants also manage to learn Nen techniques.

Gon and Killua are now initially prevented by the Hunter Committee from fighting the ants. After the king of the ants was born, the ants succeed in taking over the state of East Gorto. This is where the ants' selection of talented people begins. While some ants join the hunters and the king discovers his human side, the illusionists join the fight as some stray ants threaten their homeland. Without further ado, they destroy all ants that are not loyal to anyone but themselves and threaten their hometown.

In a final, costly battle in and around the presidential palace of East Gorto, Hunter and ants face each other. Despite preparation, the Hunter team struggled to defend itself against the power of the three bodyguards, while the chairman of the Hunter organization Netero fights King Meruem at a safe distance. After even his strongest attacks show little effect, Netero uses a weapon of mass destruction against the king and sacrifices himself to inflict serious injuries on Meruem. He is apparently saved when two of the Royal Guards allow themselves to be consumed by him. Gon learns that Kaito can no longer be saved, transforms and kills one of the Royal Guards in his rage, but suffers serious damage himself. When the situation seems hopeless for the Hunter, Meruem senses his imminent death by bomb poisoning and spends his last hours in the presence of Komugi, a human girl he has come to appreciate.

After the ants are defeated, Killua Gon uses the skills of his little sister Alluka to save what his family sees as a danger. But he manages to take Alluka with him and with the help of Nanika, who shares her body with Alluka, to heal Gon. Gon finally meets his father. Meanwhile, after much intrigue, Hunter Cheadle becomes the new chairman after Pariston Hill won the election and immediately resigned from the chair. Netero's son Beyond announces a great human expedition to the forbidden Dark Continent.
