history

The Huttenburg Altengronau was built as a Renaissance castle by Alexander von Hutten between 1548 and 1552 . For the construction, material from the destroyed second Hutti defense system at Altengronau was probably used, for the existence of which there are no reliable archaeological findings, but whose location is assumed to be in the Oberdorf ( "old cellar" ). Finally, an Adam von Hutten lived in the castle; With his death on September 4, 1627 , the line founded by Alexander von Hutten zu Gronau in the male line expired. In 1648 , the possessions of the Lords von Hutten zu Gronau , which had been destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , were sold by Philipp Daniel von Hutten zu Sannerz to Amalie Elisabeth von Hanau-Münzenberg , Countess of Hesse-Kassel . From this point on, the Huttenburg served as a fruit store for collecting and storing tithes . The castle ruins were rebuilt in 1752 and given a contemporary mansard roof. During the construction of the Flieden – Gemünden railway in the second half of the 19th century, the castle served as a hospital for railway workers. From 1875 to 1960 it was used as a school house.

investment
