IC 1049 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa? in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It probably has an Active Galaxy Core and is an estimated 307 million light years from the Milky Way .

The object was discovered on July 2, 1889 by Lewis Swift .
