IC 4405 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 496 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 130,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5553 , IC 4395 , IC 4397 , IC 4399 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 14, 1895 .
