IC 4557 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5966 , IC 4560 , IC 4563 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 24, 1903 .
