NGC 5946 = IC 4550 is a type IX globular cluster in the constellation Winkel Maß (Norma) in the southern sky.

The object was discovered on May 8, 1826 by James Dunlop (listed as NGC ) and on May 24, 1898 by Lewis Swift ( listed as IC ).
