IC 4562 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 259 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 ly . Together with PGC 55563 , it forms a bound galaxy pair .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4564 , IC 4565 , IC 4566 , IC 4567 .
The object was discovered by Edward Barnard on August 20, 1890 .
