Im Dong-hyun ( kor. 임 동현 ; born May 12, 1986 in Chungju ) is a South Korean archer .

Career

Chongbuk Athletic High School starts in Dong-hyun and has been among the world's best in its sport since the early 2000s. At the World Championships of the year in New York City , he won silver in the individual competition and gold with the team. In 2004 the archer started at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , where he won gold with the team and was sixth in the individual competition. With a total of 687 rings he set a world record in one of the preliminary fights. Things went even better at the 2006 Asian Championships in Doha , when he won gold in both singles and with the team. The 2007 World Championships in Leipzig were just as successful for the South Korean . He was able to win gold both in the individual competition and with the team. He achieved another great success at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing by winning the gold medal again with the team. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , he again set a new world record with 699 rings in the Ranking Round. In the subsequent finals, however, he failed in the round of 16 against the Dutchman Rick van der Ven . With the team he could previously achieve the bronze medal. In addition to the successes at major events, there are several wins and top placements at World Cup events.

The legend persists that Im is almost blind - a claim that the spectacle wearer (who shoots without glasses and contact lenses) never made it himself, but on the contrary denied it.
