Impossible Princess , released in Europe under the title Kylie Minogue , is the sixth studio album by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue from 1998 . It is not to be confused with their previous album Kylie Minogue from 1994.

background

For the album title, Minogue was inspired by the poetry book Poems to break the hearts of impossible princesses by the English poet and singer Billy Childish . She received it as a gift from Nick Cave after working with the Australian singer on the hit Where the Wild Roses Grow .

The release of Impossible Princess was scheduled for 22 September 1997th After the tragic accidental death of Princess Diana , the album title appeared to be inappropriate and disrespectful. The publication was postponed and all copies already pressed were destroyed. The album was released six months later under the title Kylie Minogue . This led to confusion, as their previous album from 1994 already had the same name. Minogue's Australian record company Mushroom decided to keep the title Impossible Princess and released the album under that name in March 1998.

To distinguish the work from the first album with the title Kylie Minogue, Kylie Minogue was always spoken of in 1998 , but the album was always referred to as Impossible Princess among fans and by Minogue itself . For the release of the remastered version of the album, which was released in 2003 along with a bonus CD, the title Impossible Princess was chosen.
