reception

The music magazine Visions judged negatively that Insomniac only had a total playing time of a good 30 minutes: "And for a second Longview that's obviously too short." Instead, "trivial three-chord stuff, inexperienced ditty, Schrammel pieces to yawn off" were offered . Only in Panic Song or Brain Stew would Green Day suggest "how beautiful pop music could be with loud guitars". Alexander Neubacher admitted, however, that if you liked “ Basketcase , you wo n't have much to complain about with Insomniac ”, which in his experience should be eight million people. "But that's the only really amazing thing about Green Day."
