Jason White (born November 11, 1973 in North Little Rock , Arkansas ) is an American guitarist who mainly works in the punk rock genre. He has been accompanying Green Day on their tours since 1999 and has been an official member since 2012. He is co-owner of the Adeline Records label .

Musical career

Jason White joined the American high school punk rock band Chino Horde in 1992 . She was one of the bands that helped create an important punk rock scene in Little Rock. Chino Horde released the compilation Towncraft in 1992 with other punk rock bands . The band broke up in 1993.

In 1994 he joined Pinhead Gunpowder . This punk rock band, founded in 1990, also played Aaron Cometbus (drums / lyrics), Bill Schneider (bass) and Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar / vocals), who is also the front man of the internationally known punk rock band Green Day , founded in 1989 . Jason White can also be seen in the Green Day video for the song When I come around , which was released from the album Dookie in June 1995 . Live performances by Pinhead Gunpowder were rather rare, which was certainly also due to the success of Green Day , which is why Billie Joe Armstrong was very limited.

That was one of the reasons why Jason White and Bill Schneider founded The Influents as a side project in 1999. Willie Samuels (drums) and Schneider's brother Greg (vocals and guitar) completed the band. Jason and Greg complemented each other as songwriters and singers from the start. The band could not be committed to a certain style. They played folk rock, power pop, punk rock and indie rock, which was what made them interesting. In the summer of 2000 they already recorded their first album Check Please , which was released in November 2000 (Adeline Records). The band immediately received good reviews, including a. also from Rolling Stone magazine. After the album was released, Bill Schneider left the band and Johnnie Wentz took over bass instead. Before The Influents broke up in 2003, they released their second album Some of the Young .

The Network was a new wave band that kept the media busy when it was founded in 2003. There were a lot of rumors that The Network was a side project of Green Day . In addition to Jason White, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt would also belong to The Network , although they would appear under a pseudonym on The Network . In 2003 they released their first album Money Money 2020 under the label of Adeline Records, but in 2004 again with two bonus tracks under Reprise Records.

In December 2007, Foxboro Hot Tubs first went online with three songs on their MySpace page. These links were distributed fairly quickly, both within and outside the Green Day community, because although the band plays more garage rock, the style is reminiscent of Green Day , which is certainly also due to the significant voice of Billie Joe Armstrong. That suggested, of course, that Foxboro Hot Tubs is another Green Day side project . Green Day only confirmed this rumor in April . In addition to Jason White (lead guitar, vocals) Jason Freese (keyboard, saxophone), Michael Pritchard alias Mike Dirnt (bass, vocals), Frank Edwin Wright III alias Tré Cool (drums, percussion) and Billie Joe Armstrong alias Reverend Strychnine Twitch play (Lead vocals). On December 8th 2007 the EP became Stop Drop an Roll !!! available for free download on their website for a few days. The Pedestrian and Mother Mary were released as a single . The album Stop Drop and Roll !!! with thirteen songs was released in May 2008.

White has been active as an additional guitarist at Green Day concerts since 1999 and has appeared as a guitarist in various music videos of the band since 2005, starting with the video for Wake Me Up When September Ends . On the album trilogy ¡Uno! , ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! from 2012 he is mentioned for the first time on record as an official band member. His face also adorns the cover of ¡Cuatro! , a documentary about the creation of said trilogy.

In December 2014, he was diagnosed with almond cancer .
