Instant Star is a Canadian television series directed by Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stone and produced by Epitome Pictures Inc. from September 2004 to June 2008 . In Germany , however, only the first season has been broadcast on VIVA since January 2006. In May 2007, filming began for the final season. The series was discontinued at the end of the fourth season.

Every episode of Instant Star is about the problems and challenges of the success and private life of the leading actress Jude Harrison. Their personal experiences are reflected in their music.
In the first season, Jude has to begin to find his way in the world of celebrity. Her life is repeatedly put to the test against her family, friends and school. She has to learn that parents are not perfect, that friends sometimes don't know how to deal with Jude's success, that love is a dangerous game and that not all people have only good things in mind.
In the second season, Jude managed to get into the music business, but she now has to learn how to stay at the top. She is becoming more and more of an artist in her own right , but is still dependent on help from her record company , family and friends. Over time, she learns who to trust. However, she has to accept setbacks again and again.
In the third season, Jude becomes a full-fledged artist who makes her own decisions for her career . But above all their private life is placed in an increasingly difficult situation with unpredictable consequences. First of all, her secret love for her producer Tommy , which has been going on since the beginning .

Origin of the film name "Harrison"
All Harrison family names are related to the Beatles . The last name Harrison comes from George Harrison . Jude's name comes from the song Hey Jude and Sadie was also named after a song called Sexy Sadie . The parents' names Stuart and Victoria come from Stuart Sutcliffe (Victor is another first name of Stuart Sutcliffe, hence Victoria).

For each season of Instant Star a soundtrack appears , Songs from Instant Star , which contains all songs that were presented in the respective season. On the first two soundtracks, these are sung by Alexz Johnson, who also sings the songs in the series.
On the third soundtrack, however, only four songs are sung by her. Part of the reason was that Johnson didn't sing all of the songs this season, but there were also issues with the record company that was going to release her solo album. Therefore, the vocal parts were divided between four other artists. Tyler Kyte and Cory Lee, who are supporting actors in the series and sing songs in the third season, and Damhnait Doyle and Lindsay Robins , two songwriters on the series.
The series' songs are written by a wide variety of songwriters, including Damhnait Doyle, Rob Wells , Christopher Ward , Marc Jordan and Greg Johnston . But Alexz Johnson also wrote songs for the first soundtrack together with her brother Brendan Johnson, with Brendan also working on the second and third soundtrack. On the fourth soundtrack, Alexz Johnson is again involved as a songwriter.

The soundtracks were released on the Orange Record label and produced by Dave Ogilvie , Jody Colero and Matt Hyde . Executive producer is Stephen Stohn , who is also executive producer of the television series.
Brendan Johnson has long been writing songs with his sister. He helps her with her musical career and works with her in the studio.
Damhnait Doyle can be seen in the series in the first season in the episode All Apologies . She makes a brief appearance with the band Shaye and presents the song Happy Baby . Shaye is Damhnait Doyle's band in real life too.
The song Temporary Insanity was covered in 2005 by the band The Weekend . The Backstreet Boys covered the song There's Us this year . However, it is a bonus track and only available on the Australian album. In addition, the French singer Marie-Mai covered the song Waste My Time , in French Tôt ou tard .

After the first season, Instant Star was nominated for the Gemini Awards 2005, the most important Canadian television award. Instant Star won the Best Director award for the episode You Can't Always Get What You Want . In addition, the categories “Best TV Series” and “Best Performance” (Alexz Johnson) were nominated.
On August 28, 2007 Instant Star was nominated for three more Gemini Awards, including in the category “Best Children's and Youth Series”. In addition, “Best Actor” (Alexz Johnson in the episode I Fought the Law ) and “Best Director” ( Graeme Campbell for the episode I Fought the Law and Pat Williams for the episode Personality Crisis ) were nominated again.
