International Rotary Music Competition

The International Rotary Music Competition ( International Russian Rotary Children Music Competition ) in Moscow , Russia, is one since 2002 held annually music competition for children aged 8 to 12 years. It has been organized by the Rotary Club Moscow Vostok since 2018 (until 2017 by Rotary Club Moscow International) and from 2005 to 2015 it was a member of the European Union of Music Competitions for Young People (EMCY).

procedure

The competition takes place every year at the Moscow Conservatory , the State Specialized Art Academy, Moscow or the Gnessin Music School in Moscow. All young musicians aged 8 to 12 on violin , violoncello , harp , piano and wind instruments are eligible to participate .

For the preselection, a jury determines the candidates with the help of videos that have been uploaded to YouTube in accordance with the rules of the music competition. After the qualifiers have been selected, the semifinals in Moscow follow, in which the participants are allowed to perform three pieces, mainly from a pre-selection. In the final that follows, a piece must be selected from a preselection that will be played with an orchestra.

The prize money amounts to a total of 10,000  US dollars . (Status 2011)
