Secret bishops

During the times of political persecution within the Soviet Union "underground bishops were consecrated for the Greek Catholic Church, who ensured the survival of the church until the fall of the regime". These bishops included Stepan Czmil SDB , Iwan Choma and Lyubomyr Cardinal Husar . The appointments of these "underground or secret bishops" were not approved by the Holy See , but were later confirmed.
