Ivančna Gorica (German: Johannsbüchel ) is a municipality in the Dolenjska region in Slovenia .

14,868 people live in the entire municipality, of which Ivančna Gorica alone has 1,578 inhabitants. It is located 32 km from Ljubljana .

The Cistercian Parakeet Monastery (Slov. Stična) is worth seeing . It is the oldest monastery in Slovenia and was founded in 1136 by Peregrin, the Patriarch of Aquileia. The Krška jama cave (German Gurkhöhle ) is also worth seeing . The river Krka (German Krainer Gurk ) has its source there .
