Jérémie Aliadière (born March 30, 1983 in Rambouillet ) is a French football player .

Career

Beginnings in France and first experiences with the Gunners

The offensive player began his active career in his home country at Clairefontaine , the center of excellence for the French Football Association . In June 1999 he finished his training there. In the same year he joined Arsenal FC and was initially active in the youth teams.

On November 27, 2001, he made his debut in the League Cup game against Grimsby Town in the professional team, when the attacker came on in the 82nd minute for Jermaine Pennant . The game ended in a 2-0 win for the Gunners . On February 23, 2002, the Frenchman completed his first league game in the Premier League in the home game against Fulham . Shortly before the end of the game, when the score was 4: 1 for Arsenal, he was a substitute for his compatriot Thierry Henry . This was also his only use in the 2001/02 season in the top English division. At the end of the season, Arsenal won the Premier League and the FA Cup .

Aliadière was not counted to the championship team, however, as he had completed less than ten competitive games in the championship. Also in the following season he received only sporadic missions with the Gunners team due to the high-profile competition in the attack of the Londoners with Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp , Nwankwo Kanu and Sylvain Wiltord . In his third league appearance for Arsenal, he scored his first goal on August 27, 2002 eight minutes after being substituted on. Aliadière scored the 5-2 final for Arsenal against West Bromwich Albion . In the 2003/04 season he won the English championship again with Arsenal. The striker received a winner's medal for the first time after having played ten league games for the Gunners . In the 2004/05 season he played only seven competitive games, including four in the league and two appearances in the FA Cup and one game in the FA Community Shield against Manchester United , which ended with a 3-1 win for Arsenal. Throughout the season he was denied a goal.

Various loan deals and return to Arsenal FC

Since he was still unable to assert himself in London, the offensive player agreed on July 1, 2005 with the traditional Scottish club Celtic Glasgow on a one-year loan. After just less than two months, however, the loan period ended prematurely when Aliadière signed a loan deal with West Ham United on August 24, 2005 and thus returned to England. During his time at Celtic, the French made two appearances in the qualifying matches for the UEFA Champions League against the Slovak representative Artmedia Bratislava , in each of which he was a substitute.

Even at West Ham United, the attacker did not get beyond the status of a substitute player and played as a substitute in six out of seven games. On January 31, 2006, after the end of the loan period at West Ham, the next loan of the offensive player, which was parked at the Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season, immediately followed . In his third league appearance for the Wolves , the attacker scored his first goal in the Football League Championship on February 25, 2006 in the away game at Hull City . By the end of the season he was part of the team's regular squad and played all of the following eleven games in the Wolverhampton Wanderers' regular formation. He then returned to London and received increased stakes in various competitions with the Gunners . While he was able to record four goals in six games in the League Cup, including two hits against West Bromwich Albion , he failed to score in the Premier League. In November 2006, the Frenchman expressed thoughts of switching because he was receiving too little match practice at Arsenal and preferred to play regularly with a team in the Premier League.

Time at Middlesbrough FC

In June 2007 he finally found a new employer at Middlesbrough FC , with whom he signed a four-year contract. Boro paid around £ 2million to Arsenal for his services. At Middlesbrough he immediately won a regular place and scored his first goal for his new club in his seventh away game at Manchester United. On February 23, 2008, the striker was expelled from the away game at Liverpool FC shortly before the end of the game after beating Javier Mascherano . As a result, the attacker was excluded from the game for four games.

After the suspension, he returned to the regular formation on March 15 and scored the opening goal for Middlesbrough against his former club Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium , the game finally ended in a 1-1 draw. On May 11, 2008 he won with the team in the home game against Manchester City with 8: 1, while the striker scored the goal to 7: 0 for the home side after being substituted on. At the end of the 2007/08 season Middlesbrough finished 13th and secured the league with six points ahead of the first relegated Reading FC . In the following season Aliadière was one of the regular staff at Boro , but rose with the team in the Football League Championship.

After he scored four goals in 20 games in the second-highest English division in the 2009/10 season , his contract, which was running out at the end of the season, was not extended. The reasons given were his numerous injuries, which he had suffered in the three years of his engagement with Middlesbrough, and that he had acted below his possibilities.

Return to France

In the summer of 2011 he returned to his home country, where he signed a one-year contract with first division club FC Lorient , which was later extended. With the Bretons he developed into one of the league's most dangerous attackers , especially in the 2012/13 season .
