Jacksonville (even Onslow Courthouse ) is a city and county seat of Onslow County in the US -amerikanischen State North Carolina . In 2016, Jacksonville had 67,784 residents.

Jacksonville is located in the coastal region of the Inner Banks on the estuary of the 80 km long New River. The Atlantic coast is about 15 km as the crow flies from the city center. According to the United States Census Bureau , the urban area covers an area of 117 km².
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 66,715 people lived here in 17,175 households and 13,533 families. The population density is 579.1 inhabitants per km². The racial the population is composed of 63.94% White, 23.96% African American , 0.75% Native American , 2.07% Asian , 0.19% Pacific Islander, and 5.42% other ethnic groups . 3.67% are descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race is 10.05% of the population .
There were 17,175 households out of which 49.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.8% of whom were married couples living together, 12.3% were single mothers and 21.2% were non-families. 16.6% consisted of single households and 5.1% had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.18 people.
24.3% of the population were under 18 years old. 36.3% between 18 and 24 years old, 25.9% between 25 and 44 years old, 8.8% between 45 and 64 years, and 4.8% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 156.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 178.6 men.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 32,544, and the median income for a family was $ 33,763. Males had a median income of $ 17,121 versus $ 19,931 for females.
