James Read

James Read (born July 31, 1953 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American actor .

biography

James Read became famous in particular through roles in the television series Remington Steele (1982-1983) as Murphy Michaels on the side of Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist and in Torches in the Storm (1985) as George Hazard on the side of Patrick Swayze . In 1987 he played Cary Grant in the television movie Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story . In 1988 he played in the movie Friends (Beaches) on the side of Bette Midler .

He had guest appearances in the series Mord ist ihr Hobby , Charmed (as Victor Bennett, the witches' father) and as a murderer in Columbo in the episode "Creeping Poison" ( Uneasy Lies the Crown ) as star dentist Wesley Corman. Read was also in an episode of Superman: The Adventures of Lois & Clark as the father of Jimmy Olsen and as Jaffen in the double episode "Workers" of the series Star Trek: Voyager .

Read was married to Lora Lee in his first marriage. He has been married to actress Wendy Kilbourne since 1988 , whom he met while filming Torches in the Storm . The couple have two children, Jackson and Sydney, and live in Malibu , California .
