Jan Andersson (General)

Jan Andersson (born July 22, 1955 in Västervik ) is a former Swedish major general .

Life

Jan Andersson completed his military service and then studied engineering for a year before he decided to rejoin the air force. He was trained as a pilot in the F5 in Ljungbyhed. During his military career he was, among other things, squadron captain with the F21 squadron in Luleå in Norrbotten , head of the test unit for the introduction of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen , as the predecessor of Anders Silwer , who would later succeed him as inspector of the air force.

From 2001 to 2002 he was head of the Flygtaktiska command, responsible for tactical flight operations in Uppsala , before he was appointed commander of the air force. In 2008 he went to the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC as a military attaché
