Eric Virgin

Eric Virgin (born May 18, 1876 in Skövde , † May 12, 1950 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish major general .

Life

Eric Virgin's father, Ivar, was already a colonel in the Swedish armed forces and Eric volunteered in the grenadier force in 1895 . In 1898 he was promoted to lieutenant and in 1902 transferred to Karlskrona . From 1902 to 1904 he studied at the War Academy. In 1914 he became government courier in England and France , and in 1917 he served in the Austro-Hungarian army in Romania , Carinthia and the Isonzo . In 1918 he was an observer on the German Western Front . In 1926 he was made a colonel, and in 1929 he was a delegate to the League of Nations in Geneva . In 1931 he was appointed major general and took over the air force as second chief. From 1934 to 1935 he served as political and military advisor to the Emperor of Ethiopia , in 1936 he was transferred to the reserve and in 1947 in retirement.
