Dick Stenberg

Dick Stenberg (born January 21, 1921 in Falun , † September 27, 2004 in Bromma ) was a Swedish lieutenant general .

Life

After finishing school in Södermalm near Stockholm , Dick Stenberg joined the Swedish Air Force in 1939 . In 1942 he was promoted to ensign and during the war was a flight instructor and later a squadron captain in the F5 in Ljungbyhed, who carried out the training of pilots. As a squadron captain he was also used in the F 8 in Stockholm-Barkarby from 1949 to 1954 and then as head of flight operations in the F18 squadron in Stockholm-Tullinge.

In 1962 and 1963 he took part in the Air Force deployment in the Congo Crisis for the United Nations and then became commodore of the F 18 squadron. After serving as head of the Eastern Defense Department and on the national defense staff, he was from October 1, 1973 to 30. September 1982 Commander of the Swedish Air Force.

After his active time, Stenberg was elected President of the Flygvapenmuseum Foundation .
