Mats Evald Nilsson (born December 30, 1956 in Västerås ) is a Swedish lieutenant general a. D.
Life
Mats Nilsson was trained as a military pilot at the Krigsflygsskola in Ljungbyhed from 1977 and joined the F17 association in Ronneby / Kallinge Blekinge in 1979 . 1982 followed by training to become a test pilot in Linköping . He then also completed the American test pilot training in Patuxent River .
1991 to 1993 Nilsson was trained as a general staff officer and in 1994 promoted to lieutenant colonel; In 1997 he took over the association F16 in Uppsala . In 2000 he became Commander in Chief of the Air Force, after which he moved to the Ministry of Defense to the post of Head of the Military Defense Department, which is generally considered to precede that of Commander in Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces; however, in 2008 Sverker Göranson finally came to the train.
