Janusz Góra (born July 8, 1963 in Bielawa ) is a former Polish football player and current coach .

Career as a player

society

Góra's career began at Bielawianka Bielawa. Other clubs in Poland were Górnik Wałbrzych and Śląsk Wrocław . In 1987 he was the Polish Cup winner and Super Cup winner.

In 1992 he moved to the Stuttgarter Kickers in the second division . In 1998 he was on the verge of sports disability ; he had torn a double cruciate ligament during a game and tore the outer ligament and the inner meniscus. In rehab he met Ralf Rangnick , who invited him to Ulm for training in order to stay physically fit. The sporadic co-training turned into trial training and finally a contract with SSV Ulm 1846 , with which he made promotion to the Bundesliga in 1999 . With 33 games and 10 goals, he played a key role in this success. Outside of the football world, he gained a certain fame for his emotional statement ( "Scandal!" ) Following the Bundesliga match against Hansa Rostock , in which four Ulm players and coach Andermatt were sent off by referee Herbert Fandel . Stefan Raab showed this clip in his show TV total .

In the 2002/03 season he played for FC Augsburg in the Regionalliga Süd, but returned to SSV Ulm 1846 in the 2003/04 season. After the 2006/07 season he ended his active career, in which he repeatedly missed promotion to the regional league with his club.

National team

Until 1988 Góra played in the Polish Olympic selection. From 1988 to 1992 he played eleven times in the Polish national team .

Career as a coach

In addition to playing as a player, he also acted as assistant coach and coach of the second team at Ulm. After the end of his career, he concentrated on his coaching activities. After the dismissal of trainer Marcus Sorg , he was an interim trainer for a short time at the beginning of September 2007, but took up the post of assistant trainer again after Paul Sauter was signed. Now only assistant coach of the first team, he also worked under his successors Markus Gisdol , Manfred Paula and Ralf Becker . After the latter resigned from his position on December 1, 2010 after the SSV Ulm 1846 football reported insolvency , he again moved up on an interim basis as the chief coach.

In 2012 he moved to the youth division of FC Red Bull Salzburg . From 2012 to 2015 he was the trainer of the U-14s and assistant coach of the U-18s under Thomas Letsch . When he became coach of FC Liefering after Peter Zeidler left , Góra followed him there as assistant coach alongside René Aufhauser .

In June 2017, he and team principal Gerhard Struber became the head coach of Lieferinger.

For the 2018/19 season, Struber became head coach and Gora his assistant. After his resignation on January 4, 2019, the Pole took over the post of head coach from Struber on an interim basis. At the end of the season he was replaced by Michael Feichtenbeiner , whereupon he left Liefering.
