The 1986/87 season was the 21st season of the Japan Ice Hockey League , the highest Japanese ice hockey division . The Ōji Eagles became champions for the ninth time in the club's history . Top scorer with 46 points was Norio Suzuki from master Ōji Eagles.

In the regular season, each of the six teams played a total of 30 games. The first place after the regular season became champion. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
