Jared Gomes (born October 20, 1988 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who is under contract with EHC Winterthur from the Swiss League .

Career

Gomes was born in Montreal , but grew up in Brampton . The center played for various teams in the Canadian youth league OHL until 2009 . From 2009 he worked for UPEI Panthers , the University of Prince Edward Island team that participates in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport . In his first season he was named Rookie of the Year in the CIS with the Clare Drake Award . In the 2011/12 season he was elected to the First All Star Team of the CIS .

In 2012, the striker joined the San Antonio Rampage from the AHL . There he played two seasons and achieved 20 goals and 24 assists in 129 games. In October 2014, Gomes signed a try-out contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs . After he was released from the try-out a short time later, the center was signed by the Straubing Tigers from the DEL , where he received a contract until the end of the season . Since the Lower Bavaria could not achieve the actual season goal of the playoffs, the squad was changed for the 2015/16 season and Gomes' contract was not extended. He then went back to North America and played the 2015/16 season for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL.

For the 2016/17 season , Gomes was signed for the Continental Cup by the South Tyrolean Ritten Sport club . In this competition he was able to convince, so that he was signed by SC Riessersee . On November 6, 2018, EHC Winterthur announced that it had signed Gomes to replace Tanner Sorenson , who had lost due to injury .
