Jason Ralph (born April 7, 1986 in McKinney , Texas ) is an American actor . He gained fame mainly through the lead role of Quentin Coldwater from the series The Magicians .

life and career

Jason Ralph comes from the city of McKinney, Texas. In his Texan homeland, he gained his first theater experience at Collin College in Plano . He later left home and moved to New York City, where he studied acting at the State University of New York at Purchase. He took on one of his first acting roles while setting some characters in the video game Red Dead Redemption . He then appeared in guest roles on the series Good Wife , Gossip Girl , Unforgettable (TV series) , Smash and Blue Bloods - Crime Scene New York . Between 2012 and 2013 he starred in the play Peter and the Starcatcher , which is based on the youth book Peter and the Star Catchers by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson , on Broadway and off-Broadway on the theater stage. He is also active in productions for the theater company Strangemen & Co., which he himself co-founded. One of the pieces she staged is called On the Head of a Pin .

In 2014, Ralph appeared as Ian Thompson in the thriller A Most Violent Year . In 2015 he appeared in a recurring role as Harrison Dalton in the series Madam Secretary and also appeared as Stan in the second season of the series Manhattan . In the series Aquarius he could be seen in both seasons as Mike Vickery . From 2015 he also played the leading role of Quentin Coldwater in The Magicians . His role was written out of the series after the end of the fourth season, in consultation with the actor, so that Ralph was no longer involved in the final fifth season. In 2018, Ralph appeared in the Younger series as Jake Devereux .

Private

As it became known in 2018, Ralph is said to have married the actress Rachel Brosnahan . The actress herself later stated that she and Ralph had been married for a long time after dating long before.
