Jaworek is located in the south of the Glatzer Kessel on the western slope of the Glatzer snow mountains . Neighboring towns are Marianówka in the north, Międzygórze in the northeast, Nowa Wieś in the south, Gajnik and Roztoki in the southwest, Domaszków in the west and Wilkanów in the northwest.
history
Urnitz was first mentioned in 1361 as czu dem Ohorns . Other names were Auharn (1470), Jaworek (1479), Awhorns (1480), Ohorns (1560), Arniß (1653) and Jawornick. It belonged to the Habelschwerdter district in the Glatzer Land , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation. At first it was subordinate to the rule Mittelwalde and came to Georg von Kammerstein to the rule Wölfelsdorf around 1552. In 1578, Wölfelsdorf owned, together with Urnitz, the gipprand of Gelhorn, which also owned the Niederhof in Kieslingswalde . After his death around 1586, his possessions fell back to the emperor as a settled fief . He sold Wölfelsdorf with Urnitz, probably in 1594, to Michael von Tschirnhaus, who already owned the Mittelwalde estate. After his death around 1607, his sons Friedrich, Hans and David Heinrich jointly owned the paternal property. After they were raised to the baron status and the fiefs were transferred to the inheritance , the three brothers divided the possessions around 1610. The middle brother Hans von Tschirnhaus received the rule of Wölfelsdorf with Urnitz. Presumably he sold his estate to his brother Friedrich, who is proven to be the owner of the Wölfelsdorf estate in 1614, when he died. In the same year Wölfelsdorf came with Urnitz to the youngest brother David Heinrich on Mittelwalde. As followers of the Winter King Frederick of the Palatinate , he was from that on May 12, 1620. Glatzer Governor appointed. After the re-conquest of the County of Glatz by the imperial troops in 1622, he was relieved of his office and his possessions were confiscated by the emperor. In 1653 the rule of Wölfelsdorf came to Michael Ferdinand von Althann († 1658), who also acquired the rule of Mittelwalde and Schönfeld . He built with imperial permission from the dominions Schonfeld, Mittelwalde and Woelfel village a primogeniture , which remained until 1945 owned by the family of Althann.
After the Silesian Wars , Urnitz and the County of Glatz came to Prussia in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was initially incorporated into the district of Glatz. In 1818 it was reclassified to the Habelschwerdt district , to which it belonged until 1945. Since 1874, it was incorporated into the district of Wölfelsdorf, which also included the rural communities of Weisbrodt, Wölfelsdorf and Wölfelsgrund. In 1939 there were 483 inhabitants.
As a result of the Second World War , Urnitz fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was renamed Jaworek . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . As many of the residents left Jaworek in the post-war years, the number of residents fell significantly and many houses fell into disrepair. From 1975 to 1998 Jaworek belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ).
