Jean-Marie Gorez

Jean-Marie Gorez (born May 8, 1945 in Naast) is a former Belgian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Gorez had already won a number of races as an amateur when he became Belgian road racing champion in 1966 at the age of 21 . After two stage wins at the Circuit des Mines in France , he was appointed to the Belgian selection for the 1967 International Peace Drive. There he won the 11th stage in front of his compatriot Pol Mahieu and was 63rd in the overall classification. In 1967 he became a professional driver in the French Pelforth-Sauvage-Lejeune team , in which Jan Janssen was the captain. After three less successful years, he ended his career because he no longer received a contract offer for a cycling team .
