Jeffrey Michael Fisher (* 25. February 1958 in Culver City , California ) is a former American American football trainers and poker players. Fisher was most recently Head Coach for the Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League (NFL). He previously coached the Tennessee Titans for 17 years .

Early years

Fisher was in the district of Woodland Hills the city Los Angeles to the high school. He later attended the University of Southern California .

Career as a player

In the 1981 NFL Draft , Fisher was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round in 177th place. He played as a cornerback and as a punt returnurner. In the 1983 season he broke his leg in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles . In 1985 he won Super Bowl XX with the Bears with 46:10 against the New England Patriots . However, Fisher spent the entire season on the Injured Reserve List due to an ankle injury .

Career as a coach

Assistant coach

While on the Injured Reserve List in 1985, he assisted Buddy Ryan , the Bears Defensive Coordinator. After the Super Bowl victory, Ryan became head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles . He hired Fisher as a defensive back coach for the Eagles. From 1989 he worked his way up to the defensive coordinator. In his first season as Defensive Coordinator, the Eagles were the best team in Interceptions (30) and Sacks (62). For the 1991 season he moved to the Los Angeles Rams , a year later to the San Francisco 49ers as a defensive back coach. For 1994, Fisher was again offered a job as a defensive coordinator. He signed a contract with the Houston Oilers . The Oilers' head coach, Jack Pardee , was fired during the season and Fisher was elected interim head coach.

Head coach

After the 1994 season, Fisher rose to head coach for the Houston Oilers. In the 1995 NFL Draft , the Oilers selected quarterback Steve McNair in the first round . In his first season as head coach, Fisher had seven wins and nine losses, in his second eight wins and eight losses. The Oilers are moving to Nashville , Tennessee . In the two years with the Tennessee Oilers , he reached a 16-to-16 record. For the 1999 season , the franchise was called Tennessee Titans . This season he reached Super Bowl XXXIV with the Titans , among other things due to a victory against the Buffalo Bills , which went down in history as the Music City Miracle . The Super Bowl was lost to the St. Louis Rams at 23:16 . In the last drive of the Titans, wide receiver Kevin Dyson was brought down with a tackle at the 1-yard line after a pass from Steve McNair , thus preventing the likely equalizer. This event is still known today as "The Tackle" to many football fans.

After that, Fisher reached the playoffs five times with the Titans, but never a Super Bowl again. He stayed with the Titans for 17 seasons and had a record of 142 wins to 120 losses.

St. Louis Rams / Los Angeles Rams

On January 13, 2012, Fisher signed a contract with the St. Louis Rams . For the 2016 season , he moved with the Rams to Los Angeles . He was fired during his first season in LA. In the five years with the Rams he never reached the playoffs with a record of 31 wins to 45 losses.
