Jelena Kostanic Tosic (* 6. July 1981 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia as Jelena Kostanic ) is a former Croatian tennis player .
Career
Kostanić Tošić started playing tennis at the age of seven. In 1999 she reached the top 100 singles, in 2004 she was among the top 50. On July 8, 2006, she married the Croatian table tennis player Roko Tošić, until then she had played under her maiden name.
Her greatest successes were the third round participation at the Australian Open in 2000, 2006 and 2007 and at the US Open in 2004. In addition, she made three finals at WTA tournaments, 2003 in Espoo and 2006 in Pattaya and Bangalore .
In doubles she was in the top 30 in October 2004. She won a total of eight WTA titles, the last two in 2006 at the Japan Open in Tokyo and at the tournament in Bangkok within two weeks.
From 1998 to 2010 she competed for Croatia in the Fed Cup . Her record shows 12 wins and 13 defeats in singles and seven wins and seven defeats in doubles.
Kostanić Tošić took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In the singles she failed in the first round, in doubles she reached the round of 16 with her compatriot Karolina Šprem .
In 2010 she ended her career as a professional tennis player.
