Jessica Collins (* 1. April 1971 in Schenectady , New York as Jessica Lynn Capogna ) is an American actress . She gained fame through her soap opera roles Dinah Lee Mayberry Alden in Loving (1991–1994) and Avery Bailey Clark in Shadow of Passion (2011–2015).

Life

Collins attended Amsterdam High School in Amsterdam , New York. In June 1988 she was named Miss New York Teen USA. That same year she came second in the Miss Teen USA election. She later attended the Royal National Theater in London and the Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles .

Her television career began when she took on the role of Dinah Lee Mayberry Alden, which she played in the soap opera Loving from 1991 to 1994 and in the 1992 soap opera All My Children (here as Dinah Lee Mayberry). For her work in Loving she received two nominations for the Soap Opera Digest Award . Once in 1993 in the "Hottest Female Star" category and once in 1994 in the "Outstanding Younger Leading Actress" category. Appearances in other television series followed, such as as Mindy Church in Superman - The Adventures of Lois & Clark (1995), as Linnis Paris in Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager (1997) and as Jody Carlisle in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1997) as well in various films, including Space Platoon (1996), Kick Fire - Without Any Warning (1998) and Das Ritual - Im Bann des Bades (2002). In the drama series American Dreams , she played the role of the recurring character Colleen from 2002 to 2003. In Tru Calling - Destiny Reloaded! From 2003 to 2004 she played one of the leading roles in Meredith Davies. In the second half of the 2000s she was, among other things, in John Asher's romantic comedy Dirty Love (2005) and in the two short-lived series Unscripted (2005) and Big Shots (2007-2008) to see. Her film and television work in the 2010s includes appearances in another short-lived series called Scoundrels (2010), the thriller Open House (2010) and the soap opera Shadow of Passion . In the latter production, she played Avery Bailey Clark from 2011 until her pregnancy in 2015, for which she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the Daytime Emmy Award and won the same award in 2016.

Collins graduated from Cordon Bleu Cooking School in 2009 and runs a cooking show called Sugared and a food blog as a professional cook .

She was married to actor Robert Tyler from 1996 to 2002. In 2016 she married the filmmaker Michael Cooney, with whom she had a daughter that same year.
