Jessica Rothe (* 28. May 1987 in Denver , Colorado as Jessica Anne Rothenberg ) is an American actress .

life and career

Jessica Rothe was born Jessica Anne Rothenberg to Steve and Susan Rothenberg. Her grandmother Coleen Rothenberg (1936–2017) was already active as a theater actress and passed this acting talent on to her family. In addition to her son Steven, Coleen Rothenberg also had a daughter, Karly Rothenberg (* 1962), who has been an actress in film and television since the 1980s. Jessica Rothenberg began taking ballet lessons at the age of eight . As a child she took part in summer acting camps and was a member of a theater group. After graduating from Cheery Creek High School in Greenwood Village , Colorado, she began studying acting at Boston University . She was involved in various theater plays in the latter and took on the roles of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet , Belle in Beauty and the Beast or Anya in Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard . Here she was used at the Huntington Theater in Boston alongside veterans like Kate Burton and Dick Latessa . During her studies, she also learned to play the violin and tap dance . After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009, Rothenberg concentrated intensively on her acting career.

After appearing at the Hangar Theater in Ithaca , New York , she soon made her first notable film appearance. In the independent film The Art of Loving , she was seen in a minor supporting role and received various offers for television roles. In 2010 she made her television debut when she starred in an episode of America's Most Wanted . Even around 2011, at the beginning of her film and television career, she still appeared regularly in the theater. In 2011 and 2012 she was also used in internationally broadcast productions and was featured in an episode each of the Onion News Network , Happy Endings or Gossip Girl and made an appearance in the television special for the Teen Choice Awards 2011 . In 2013 she made her short film debut as Maya in Promised Land , where she starred alongside Noah Galvin and Nick Sandow and directed by Joe Turner Lin .
