Jesus Church (Lössau)

In 1754, one year after the completion of the Jesus Church in Kirschkau, the Lössauer approached their Prince Heinrich XII about the condition of their church. from Reuss-Schleiz . He ultimately decided to have a completely new building by Johann Gottlieb Riedel . The work lasted from 1755 to 1759. The inauguration was delayed until 1763 due to the Seven Years War .

The central building has an eight-sided floor plan . A rectangular choir with a three-sided end is attached to the hall. The church has arched windows , it is covered with a curved hipped roof , crowned by an eight-sided open roof turret . In it hang two cast steel bells that the community bought after World War II . The interior of the church with its simple galleries is determined by the contrast between the light painting and the dark, natural principles . In the main axis , the altar and organ stand one above the other. The pulpit is on the side wall, opposite the simple baptismal font on balusters . At the front of the altar there is a carved lamb of God , at the pulpit there is a carved handkerchief of Veronica . The four evangelists are painted on the doors of the altar wall .
The organ with 10 registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built in 1763 by Johann Tobias Hiebe from Schleiz.
