Joško Gvardiol (born January 23, 2002 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian football player who is under contract with the first division club Dinamo Zagreb . The central defender has been a Croatian U21 international since November 2019 .

Career

society

In Zagreb born Joško Gvardiol began his football education at NK TREŠNJEVKA and joined in 2010 the prestigious youth academy Dinamo Zagreb on. There he played in various junior teams and took part in the 2018/19 UEFA Youth League with the U19 team . On August 18, 2019 (1st matchday) he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against the second representative of NK Osijek in the reserve team Dinamo Zagreb II, which plays in the second highest Croatian league . After two more missions in the reserve, the central defender was promoted to the first team. In mid-October 2019, Gvardiol was named by the British daily The Guardian in the list of the 60 greatest talents with the year of birth 2002. On October 18, 2019 (matchday 12), at the age of 17, he played his first game in the top Croatian league in a 4-2 away win against HNK Gorica when he came on for Mario Gavranović in the closing stages . In his second outing against Inter Zaprešić he was on the starting line-up for the first time and scored the decisive goal for the 1-0 home win. In the next few months Gvardiol was used sporadically in the first team.

National team

Joško Gvardiol has already played for the Croatian U14 national team and completed three international matches for the U16 in April 2018 . Then he denied Gvardiol until March 2019 eight caps for the U17 , where he was able to record even one scoring. He has been working for the U19s since September 2019 and has represented the U21s in his home country since November 2019 .
