Joachim Friedrich von Wreech

Joachim Friedrich von Wreech (born November 22, 1650 in Neumark ; † April 9, 1724 at Gut Kriening in the Soldin district ) was a Brandenburg general of the cavalry .

His parents were Joachim von Wreech (1605–1666) director of the Friedeberg district and Katharina von Brandt (* 1630; † 14 September 1689). He served in the army of the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg in the campaigns in Alsace and Pomerania and was a cornet in the battle of Fehrbellin . He was with the Brandenburg troops during the siege of Ofen (1684/1686) . When Count Dietrich von Dohna fell there, he took command. As early as 1686, as a lieutenant colonel, he became chief of the then Leib-Dragoon Regiment (later Cuirassier Regiment No. 4 ) and was promoted to colonel on December 8, 1688. On April 6, 1695 he became major general. In 1701 he went to Kleve with 10 to 12 squadrons of cavalry and was placed there under Lieutenant General Johann Siegmund von Heyden . On January 5, 1704 he became governor of Geldern and on February 10, 1704 lieutenant general and on May 23, 1715 general of the cavalry. On September 25, 1704 he was also the governor of Kartzig and Himmelstedt.

He died in 1724 on April 9th ​​on his estate Kriening ( Polish : Krzynki ) in Neumark.

family

Since 1682 he was married to Katharine Amalie von Weyher , a daughter of the Danish field marshal Adam von Weyher . The couple had a son Adam Friedrich (* May 28, 1689; † August 27, 1746) and 4 daughters. The daughter Maria Louise von Wreech (* June 6, 1685; † November 2, 1720) married on March 11, 1703 the Lieutenant General Count Bogislaw Bodo von Flemming (* April 24, 1671; † October 14, 1732).

His grandson Ludwig was royal chamberlain and court marshal at the court of Prince Heinrich of Prussia and was elevated to the rank of count on October 2, 1786 .
