Johann Baptist Spitzeder
Johann Baptist Spitzeder (born December 24, 1764 in Salzburg , † October 22, 1842 in Munich ) was an Austrian actor and singer ( bass ).
Life
Spitzeder was a son of the singer Franz Anton Spitzeder (1732–1796), known from Mozart's biography . He was first engaged from 1786 to 1788 in the company of Gustav Friedrich Großmann and his co-director Christian Wilhelm Klos , which played in the cities of Cologne , Düsseldorf , Bonn and Aachen . From there he moved to the Bonn National Theater , which opened on January 3, 1789. The young Ludwig van Beethoven played the viola in the theater's orchestra . At the beginning, the ensemble of the theater also included Carl Demmer ,Joseph Lux and Heinrich Vohs as well as the music director August Burgmüller .
From November 1796 Spitzeder can be traced back to the company of Karl Haßloch in Kassel and made his debut on September 27, 1799 in Weimar as Osmin in Mozart's singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail . In 1804 he worked briefly at the Theater an der Wien , where he got into great financial hardship and apparently was unable to perform. He sent two urgent letters of appeal from Vienna to Hofkammerrat Franz Kirms in Weimar, in which he - in vain - offered a return to Weimar. Instead, he received an engagement at the theater in Regensburg , where he and his family arrived on July 9, 1804, presumably together with Therese von Zandt . The theater's music director was August Burgmüller, who presumably had brought Spitzeder to Regensburg. He arrived in Regensburg on August 25, 1804 and married Therese von Zandt on May 13, 1805.
In 1808 Spitzeder went to Nuremberg , around 1820 to the court theater in Munich .
