Johann Christian Krenckel

Johann Christian Krenckel (born May 30, 1761 in Drossen , Neumark , † June 13, 1831 in Cottbus ) was a German judicial commissioner . He was Lord Mayor of Cottbus from 1803/5 to 1831 .

Life

Johann Christian Krenckel grew up in Drossen, today's Polish Ośno Lubuskie, near Frankfurt (Oder) and went to school there until 1775. 1788 Krenckel went to Frankfurt (Oder) and studied from 1793 at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt law . After completing his studies, Krenckel began a legal career with the royal rule of the Neumark and was appointed judge at the justice office of the city of Driesen in 1799 . Only one year later he went to the Justice Commission of the City of Cottbus .

In 1803 Krenckel was appointed magistrate conductor of the city of Cottbus, in this function he was responsible for "the welfare of the general public". Two years later he was appointed mayor. During his tenure, the city of Cottbus was occupied by Napoleon's troops in 1807 . In addition, Cottbus was reclassified into the Kingdom of Prussia after the Congress of Vienna . In 1822 Krenckel was awarded the First Class Decoration. He was also the bearer of the Red Eagle Order IV class. At the beginning of 1831 Krenckel resigned from office for health reasons.
