Henricus Halthoff

Henricus Haltenhoff (* 22. July 1888 in Lauterberg , † 3. September 1956 in Hannover ) was grandnephew of lawyers Ferdinand Haltenhoff and mayor in Frankfurt (Oder) , Cottbus and Hanover.

Life

After graduating from high school, Haltehoff studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin , the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg and the Georg August University in Göttingen . Then he was a trainee lawyer in Bad Pyrmont , Hannover and Celle . From 1916 to 1918 he worked as a legal assistant for the German Association of Cities .

In 1921 he was first elected to the city council in Frankfurt (Oder) and finally elected mayor in 1926.

In March 1933 he was appointed acting magistrate conductor to Cottbus and in July 1933 elected mayor there. On April 1, 1933, he was also a NSDAP member and supporting member of the SS . Furthermore ,haltenhoff SA was a member.

In October 1937 Halthoff moved to Hanover and succeeded Arthur Quantity as Lord Mayor of the state capital. In November 1938 he was appointed SA Standartenführer. In April 1942, under pressure from the Gauleitung, which assumed that he was “friendly to the Jews”, Halthoff resigned from his position. Until October 1942 he was still active in the German Community Congress before he was retired.

After the end of the war he was classified as a fellow traveler in the denazification process and thus avoided a heavier sentence. In the second electoral term, he was represented in the Lower Saxony state parliament as a member of the GB / BHE parliamentary group from October 15, 1954, when he replaced Kurt Fischer , until May 5, 1955 .
