Johann Christoph Ludwig Erhardt , von Erhardt since 1835 (born June 21, 1787 in Hadamar ; † May 30, 1872 in Breslau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and inspector of the 3rd artillery inspection.

Ludwig was the son of Johann Philipp Erhardt and his wife Karoline Wilhelmine, née Werner.

Military career

Erhardt studied at the University of Herborn , enlisted in the Prussian Army and was posted to the East Prussian Artillery Brigade on July 18, 1807. He became second lieutenant in mid-November 1810 and took part in the battles near Eckau, Garossenkrug and Wollgund in 1812 during the campaign against Russia .

During the Wars of Liberation he was adjutant to the artillery leader of the 1st Army Corps. In the battle of the Katzbach Erhardt acquired the Iron Cross 2nd class. He fought near Leipzig , Laon and Paris , took part in the transition near Wartenburg and in the battles near Löwenberg, Goldberg, Bunzlau, Hochkirch, Freyburg , Eisenach, Saarlouis, St.Dizier , La Chaussee, Chalons-sur-Marne, Montmirail , Chateau- Thierry , La Fere and Meaux. He received several commendations for Claye .

On April 12, 1815 Erhardt was transferred to the Equestrian Guards Artillery and promoted to Premier Lieutenant in mid-June 12, 1815 . On April 12, 1816 he was promoted to captain and chief of the 2nd Riding Company of the Guards Artillery Brigade. On June 23, 1824 he came as an adjutant to the General Inspectorate of the Artillery and was aggregated on July 14, 1824 of the Guards Artillery Brigade . On April 21, 1828 he was promoted to major . On September 10, 1835, Erhardt was commissioned to lead the 5th Artillery Brigade. On March 18, 1836, he was appointed brigadier and on April 3, 1836, Erhardt was also a member of the examination commission for artillery premier lieutenants and, from November 1837, a member of the commission for the drafting of new service regulations for the army. The Russian tsar awarded Erhardt with the diamonds for the Order of Saint Anne on June 8, 1838 and gave him a box with diamonds on February 24, 1839. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1839 , received the Order of St. Vladimir III on September 26, 1843 . Class and advanced to colonel by mid-September 1846 . On March 27, 1847, Erhardt was promoted to major general inspector of the 3rd artillery inspection. On March 23, 1852 he was promoted to lieutenant general. On 18 April 1854 he received his parting with inn . On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Prussian Riding Artillery, the King awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class with Oak Leaves. He died in Breslau on May 30, 1872.
