Johann Christoph Wiegleb
Johann Christoph Wiegleb (* 19th March 1690 in Heldritt ; † 15. November 1749 in Steppach ) was a German organ builder of the Baroque .
life and work
Wiegleb was the second eldest son of the organ builder Johann Hieronymus Wiegleb (* July 20, 1664; † around 1723). He came from Horsingsleben near Gotha and was married to the only daughter of the then Mr. von Heldritt. After his apprenticeship with his father, Johann Christoph continued his education with the organ builder Johann Georg Fincke in Saalfeld . He also learned from Adam Ernst Reichard in Wilhermsdorf . There he opened his own workshop in 1711. After he had already become the organ builder of Count von Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst , he was able to obtain the title of “court and country organ maker” for Ansbach in 1739. With his son Johann Friedrich, his art flowed into the workshop of the organ builder Johann Friedrich Müller in Heidelberg . Wiegleb had a few students who continued his style. After Wiegleb's death, his journeyman Caspar Moritz Nößler (1720–1777) took over the workshop.
